چکیده

Zage, David J. Ph.D., Purdue University, May 2010. A Platform for Creating Efficient, Robust, and Resilient Peer-to-Peer Systems. Major Professor: Cristina Nita-Rotaru. The rapid growth of communication environments such as the Internet has spurred the development of a wide range of systems and applications based on peer-to-peer ideologies. As these applications continue to evolve, there is an increasing effort towards improving their overall performance. This effort has led to the incorporation of measurement-based adaptivity mechanisms and network awareness into peer-to-peer applications, which can greatly increase peer-to-peer performance and dependability. Unfortunately, these mechanisms are often vulnerable to attack, making the entire solution less suitable for real-world deployment. In this dissertation, we study how to create robust systems components for adaptivity, network awareness, and responding to identified threats. These components can form the basis for creating efficient, high-performance, and resilient peer-to-peer systems.

TAC: A Topology-Aware Chord-based Peer-to-Peer Network

Among structured Peer-to-Peer systems, Chord has a general popularity due to its salient features like simplicity, high scalability, small path length with respect to network size, and flexibility on node join and departure. However, Chord doesn’t take into account the topology of underlying physical network when a new node is being added to the system, thus resulting in high routing late...

Approximate Matching for Peer-to-Peer Overlays with Cubit

Keyword search is a critical component in most content retrieval systems. Despite the emergence of completely decentralized and efficient peer-to-peer techniques for content distribution, there have not been similarly efficient, accurate, and decentralized mechanisms for content discovery based on approximate search keys. In this paper, we present a scalable and efficient peer-to-peer system ca...

A Genetic Programming-based trust model for P2P Networks

Abstract— Peer-to-Peer ( P2P ) systems have been the center of attention in recent years due to their advantage . Since each node in such networks can act both as a service provider and as a client , they are subject to different attacks . Therefore it is vital to manage confidence for these vulnerable environments in order to eliminate unsafe peers . This paper investigates the use of genetic ...
